Hospitality, Barista and Food Services

In 2020, New Directions College was awarded a Skills Capital grant from the Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership, to create a state of the art training kitchen for the Hospitality, Barista and Food Services industry. Despite the pandemic, we were able to continue with the build and works were completed in September 2020.

We are delighted to be able to offer the following courses for the sector. Over the next 12 months we will be working with partners and stakeholders to develop our course offer which will include Barista training and business start up training. Watch this space!

NEW Level 1 Award for Skills for Employment in the Hospitality Industry

Starting: Friday 21st January 2022 at 13.00 – 15.30

NEW Level 1 Certificate for Skills for Working in the Food Service Industry

Starting: Friday 21st January 2022 at 9:30 – 12:30

Course fee: This course could be free depending on your personal circumstances. Please contact us.

NEW Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Excellence in Customer Service for Hospitality

This is a 20 week, fully accredited course.

Starting: Thursday 13th January 2022 at 9:30 – 13:30

NEW Food Safety – Working Safely in the Hospitality Industry

During this fully accredited 3 week course you will achieve a L2 Award in Food Safety

Starting: Monday 17th January 2022 and Thursday 28th April 2022. All sessions to be held at New Directions South at 9:30 – 13:30pm.

Course fee: £50

Cookery – Supported Learning (day)

This 10 week course is specifically designed for adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. Delivered from our new state of the art kitchen at New Directions, South, you will develop basic cookery skills to enable you to be independent and make nutritious everyday meals. Sessions will run on a Tuesday and/or Thursday at 13:00 – 15:00pm. Ingredients and equipment will be provided.

Starting: Tuesday 21st September 2021, Thursday 23rd September 2021, Tuesday 11th January 2022, Thursday 13th January 2022, Tuesday 26th April 2022 and Thursday 28th April 2022.

Course fee: £160

NEW Cooking from around the World (evening)

This 5 week course will enable you to cook and learn about different cuisines from around the world. You will cook Thai, Indian, Mexican, Middle Eastern and the dishes from the Caribbean. Classes will be held in our new state of the art training kitchen at New Directions South. Parking is available. Ingredients and equipment will be provided.

Starting: Wednesday 3rd November 2021 at 19:00 – 21:00pm for 5 weeks

Course fee: £85

Easy Breadmaking (day)

During this 5 week course, you will learn the basic skills required to make your own homemade bread rolls, basic loafs, flat bread, soda bread and foccia. Sessions will be held in our new training kitchen at New Directions South. Parking is available. Ingredients and equipment will be provided.

Starting: Monday 10th January 2021 10:00 – 12:00pm

NEW & FREE Healthy meals on a budget (day)

Come along and learn how to cook healthy, tasty meals on a budget. Sessions to be held at New Directions South in our new state of the art kitchen. Courses run for 5 weeks. Ingredients and equipment will be provided.

Starting: Tuesday 2nd November 2021 and Tuesday 26th April 2022. Sessions run from 10:00 – 12:00.

Course fee: FREE

NEW The secrets of Indian Cookery (evening)

During this 5 week course you will learn about different herbs and spices used in Indian cookery to make authentic dishes. Sessions to be held in our new state of the art training kitchen at New Directions South. Ingredients and equipment will be provided and is included in your course fee.
