Business Support Officer

(MIS & Performance)

We have an exciting opportunity for an MIS & Performance Officer, working alongside our Management Information Systems and Performance team. In this role, you will support all learner enrolments at the college as well as process and analyse performance data across our key indicators of success, recruitment, retention, attendance, achievement and success.

New Directions College is Reading Borough Council’s Adult and Community Learning service.  This year we’re celebrating 65 years of Adult Learning in Reading. We’re a small friendly College delivering to over 2000 learners and apprentices each year, directly and through our subcontractors and partners.

ESOL Tutor

Due to recent growth at the College, we are seeking an outstanding ESOL Tutor to deliver our range of ESOL courses, from pre-entry level through to Level 2. This includes both regulated and non-regulated learning.

We are looking for someone with experience of teaching English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), preferably within a community learning environment.

GR2 SCP4 (£21,153) to GR3 SCP 8 (£25,608)

Full Time (37 hrs per week)

Teaching/Contact Time: 21 hrs per week

Must be available to teach during the day and evenings

Generous annual leave entitlement of 48 days Inc bank holidays.

Casual Exam Invigilators

Are you seeking a casual role where you can make a difference to local people’s lives? 


This is a casual post that will be called upon during the academic year when exams/assessments require invigilators. The need for exam invigilators is at its highest from October to February which is mock exam season and then April to July which is the main exam season.

Casual Learner Support Worker

Are you seeking a flexible, part time, term time role where you can make a difference to local people’s lives?   Would you like to support local adults with their learning and helping them develop further?

We are seeking inspiring Learner Support Workers to support learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to access learning.  We seek the best talent from the widest pool of people, as diversity and inclusion are the key to our success.

The Learner Support Worker roles are offered on a part time, sessional basis for between 4 to 16 hours per week, during college opening hours.

Tutors/Instructors/Assessors/Internal Quality Assurance and Learning Support Workers

If you have experience of delivering or quality assuring learning for adults, or supporting adults in a learning environment, and are looking for your next challenge, consider joining New Directions College. Volunteering

New Directions College is fortunate to offer the opportunity to help our learners to fulfil their potential in the classroom, and our volunteers represent an integral part of our College, as they work alongside professional Tutors. Their support is invaluable to our learners, studying a wide range of courses, including Maths, English, ESOL and Community Learning.
