Art in the Dark – Stitching Your Story: A Bayeux Tapestry Embroidery Workshop Course

As part of the Art in the Dark season at Reading Museum, this one-day workshop invites you to explore the legendary Bayeux Tapestry, which tells the story of the Norman Conquest. Inspired by this iconic piece of medieval art, you’ll be guided by artist Anurita Chandola to create your own embroidered masterpiece, adding a contemporary twist. You’ll learn various embroidery techniques, including stitching, layering, and texture building, to bring your own narrative to life in thread. Using the Tapestry’s historical story as a foundation, you’ll experiment with personal storytelling through embroidery, creating a piece that reflects your own journey or experiences. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a unique embroidered work, inspired by the Tapestry’s rich history but with your own creative, modern expression.
