As part of the Art in the Dark season at Reading Museum, this one-day workshop takes place in the immersive Greenspace Gallery, home to a rich collection of natural history objects including taxidermy specimens and botanical artefacts, where you will look at exploring and illustrating the natural forms on display. Using a range of materials you will spend time drawing elements selected from the museum’s collection. These drawings will then be developed and refined further, in order to begin building a collection of illustrations. Under the guidance of artist and illustrator Anne Wilson, you’ll be encouraged to observe closely, experiment creatively, and explore the possibilities of mixed media. This workshop is great for beginners looking to explore illustrations which are developed from initial drawing based research, and offers a relaxing, hands-on opportunity to connect with nature, history, and art.
