Work Placement opportunities
If you want to gain work experience, develop new skills or want a stepping stone into an apprenticeship, Reading Council is looking for people for its next round of work placements, starting in April. Opportunities will be in a range of service areas, giving you experience and transferable skills in areas such as customer services, administration and ICT.

Learn Online with New Directions College and Good Things Foundation

New Directions College is partnering with Good Things Foundation and Learn My Way to offer opportunities to learn online and enhance your digital and employability skills.

We are offering support from a tutor in accessing the Digital Skills Directory, a collection of online learning resources to help you build your digital skills. It includes courses, tools and templates carefully picked from established websites with a track record of providing reliable digital skills content. You can learn about email, documents and spreadsheets, social media and online security.

If you would like to get support to improve your digital skills, either as a learner wanting to build on teaching on your course, or as a jobseeker, contact us


New Directions College now teaching at the Curious Lounge

New Directions College has a brand new town centre teaching venue at the Curious Lounge.

Supported by Local Growth Funding and working in partnership with Connect TVT and Reading UK CIC we have developed a modern, hi-tech learning environment close to Reading train station, which will deliver a range of learning opportunities, focusing on digital skills development. New Directions College will be offering a courses from this January including ICT qualifications, but also look out for a wider range of educational events taking place during the day and evenings.
